What’s your commission rate is probably the number 1 question asked by all sellers.
Before assuming that the lowest commission rate is preferable ask yourself.
- Would you want a surgeon who works at the lowest fee? Why is that surgeon’s fee lower than anyone else?
- Plumbers, electricians, teachers, and many other union people earn a higher salary the more experience they have. The same should be true of Realtors.
- Should someone new, a part-time real estate agent, or someone who is only an agent as a weekend hobby, charge the same commission as a Realtor with many years of experience and full-time? After all, someone new’s knowledge is still mostly from a book. And someone part-time has their full-time job as a priority.

When you want to sell a house, ask yourself, should you choose a novice real estate agent, someone part-time or weekends only to represent one of the biggest financial decisions of your life? Or should you hire someone whose only job is real estate sales? Which one might be able to get you the most money for your house, with the least amount of problems, and in the least time?
